The Art of Returning

Coming Home to the Life God Is Calling You to Live

There is a quiet invitation that arrives with every new season. 🍂

It doesn’t shout. It doesn’t demand our attention. It simply whispers:

Come back.

Not back to who you used to be.

Not back to old habits or old versions of yourself.

But back to the person God created you to become before the noise of the world convinced you otherwise.

As August begins, many of us naturally think about fresh starts. We make plans, set goals, and promise ourselves that this month will be different. While there is beauty in beginning again, perhaps the invitation isn’t to become someone new. Perhaps it’s simply to return to what has always mattered most.

To return to peace.

To return to faith.

And return to the quiet confidence that your life has purpose.

Somewhere along the way, many of us began believing that fulfillment was waiting on the other side of achievement.

“If I could just make a little more money…”

“If I finally found the right relationship…”

“If life became a little easier…”

Then I would feel at peace.

But peace has never been found in the future.

It has always been found in the present moment, where God is already waiting for us.

A beautiful life is rarely built through dramatic moments.

It is built quietly.

In choosing prayer before panic.

In taking a walk instead of reaching for your phone.

In opening your Bible before opening social media.

In savoring your morning coffee.

In sitting with your thoughts instead of running from them.

In thanking God for the ordinary blessings that often go unnoticed.

These small, faithful choices become the foundation of a meaningful life.

The world celebrates hustle, speed, and constant achievement.

God often works differently.

He teaches us in the quiet.

He restores us in stillness.

He reminds us that our value has never been determined by our productivity.

One of the greatest misconceptions about growth is believing that every time we lose our way, we have to start over.

We don’t.

Returning isn’t failure.

Returning is wisdom.

Every sunrise is another invitation to come home.

Come home to peace.

Come home to gratitude.

Come home to your purpose.

Come home to the person God has been gently shaping all along.

This week, I invite you to ask yourself one simple question:

Where have I drifted away from the life God is calling me to live?

Don’t answer with guilt.

Answer with honesty.

Then choose one small step that brings you back.

Read one chapter of Scripture.

Take a quiet walk.

Write in your journal.

Pray before your feet hit the floor each morning.

Forgive someone.

Rest without feeling guilty.

Transformation rarely happens all at once.

It happens through small, intentional moments that, over time, become a way of life.

Maybe August isn’t asking you to reinvent yourself.

Maybe it’s simply inviting you to return.

And perhaps coming home to the life God is calling you to live is the most beautiful journey you’ll ever take.

If you’re ready to cultivate a more intentional, grounded, and spirited life, I’d love to welcome you into the Spirited community. Your next chapter begins here.

Reflection

“Return to your rest, my soul, for the Lord has been good to you.”— Psalm 116:7

Journal Prompt

Where in my life have I been living from pressure instead of peace? What is one intentional step I can take this week to return to the life God is calling me to live?

With warmth & Grace,
