What Your Body is Asking for This Fall

There is something about the beginning of a new season that makes us want to begin again.
We imagine a better routine, a cleaner kitchen, a calmer mind. We make lists of everything we ought to change. But sometimes the kindest place to begin is with a quieter question:
What does my body need from me right now?
Maybe you’ve been tired, but you keep pushing through. Maybe your meals have become hurried, your sleep has slipped, or you can’t remember the last time you took a walk simply because it felt good. These things are easy to overlook when life is full. They are also part of the foundation of our health.
Most adults need at least seven hours of sleep each night, yet more than one in three American adults say they don’t get the recommended amount. Our bodies also respond to light: daylight helps guide the internal rhythm that tells us when to be awake and when to sleep. And while the general goal for adults is 150 minutes of moderate movement a week, even smaller amounts of activity offer benefits. None of this requires an elaborate wellness routine.
It asks us to pay attention to how we live each day.
As fall settles in, I’m thinking less about a dramatic reset and more about returning to simple rhythms. Opening the door and stepping into the morning light for a few moments. Sitting down to a nourishing meal. Taking a walk before the evening gets away from me. Allowing rest to have a place on the calendar and throughout the days.
These practices may sound ordinary. That’s part of their beauty. Natural health doesn’t always begin with adding something new. Sometimes it begins by noticing what has been missing.
So before you make a long list of changes this season, pause and ask yourself:
Where do I feel most out of balance? Choose one small way to care for that part of your life this week. Let it be something you can return to, even on a busy day.
And if you’re feeling unsure where to start, you don’t have to sort through it alone. My online Holistic Health Evaluation or Private Coaching Session is a space to talk through your concerns, look at your daily habits and goals, and create a personal plan of care that fits your life.
