Why I Chose Mentorship Over One Time Sessions

For years, I’ve had the privilege of sitting with people during some of the most important and pressing moments of their lives.
They came seeking clarity. Guidance. Understanding. And the fact that God entrusted me with the hearts of others....whew! That is not lost on me!
And while a single session can absolutely create a breakthrough, I’ve learned something that has transformed the way I work:
Transformation rarely happens in a single conversation.
It happens through relationship, accountability, follow through and with guidance along the way.
It happens through having someone walk beside you as you navigate the twists and turns of your journey, to ease the tension, foster clarity and simply to help you take the pressure off.
Over time, I began to notice a pattern.
Many people would leave a session feeling inspired, clear, and empowered. They would receive exactly what they needed in that moment.
But then life would happen, and old habits would return.
Fear would creep back in.
The same patterns would reappear.
The same questions would resurface.
And often, months later, they would return seeking another session to help them find their footing again.
There is nothing wrong with that.
In fact, it’s a very human experience.
But it revealed something important to me:
Most people don’t need another answer. They need someone in their corner.
They need a guide and ongoing support.
They need perspective when they’re too emotionally involved to see clearly.
They need encouragement when growth feels uncomfortable.
They need someone who can remind them of who they are when they forget.
This is where mentorship becomes different.
A one-time session is like receiving a map.
Mentorship is having an experienced guide travel alongside you.
A session can provide insight.
Mentorship helps you fully embody and apply that insight.
A session can reveal a blind spot.
Mentorship helps you work through it.
A session can show you the next step.
Mentorship helps you continue walking the path long after the excitement of the breakthrough fades.
One of the greatest challenges we all face is that we cannot always see ourselves clearly.
We are emotionally attached to our fears, our stories, our disappointments, and our expectations.
Because of that, there are moments when we simply cannot access the wisdom we already possess.
This is true for everyone.
Even the most successful leaders, athletes, entrepreneurs, artists, and performers seek mentorship.
Not because they are weak or somehow failing.
Because they understand that growth accelerates when we allow someone else to help us see what we cannot.
Sometimes the greatest value a mentor provides isn’t information.
It’s perspective.
It’s asking the question nobody else thought to ask.
It’s identifying a pattern you’ve overlooked.
It’s helping you stay aligned with your vision when distractions pull you away from it.
It’s reminding you of your potential on the days you can’t see it yourself.
I’ve come to believe that real transformation is less about collecting knowledge and more about becoming the person capable of living that knowledge.
That process takes time.
It takes reflection, and it takes support.
And it takes commitment.
This is why I’ve chosen to place my focus on mentorship.
Not because one-time sessions aren’t valuable.
They absolutely are.
But because mentorship allows for something deeper.
Something richer and much more embodied.
Something more lasting.
It’s an opportunity to walk a meaningful journey together rather than simply sharing a moment in time.
If there is one thing I’ve learned through my own life, travels, studies, successes, failures, and personal growth, it is this:
We were never meant to navigate life’s most important journeys entirely alone.
The right guide won’t walk the path for you or pretend to have the answers and tell you what to do.
They won’t tell you what to think.
They won’t create your life on your behalf. They can't, simply because noone can fulfill your destiny for you and noone can live your will-only you can do that. And the right mentor will know how to impart that knowledge to employ your power.
They help you see more clearly.
They help you trust yourself more deeply by reminding you of who you are.
And they help you become the person you are capable of becoming.
That is the work I love.
And that is why I chose mentorship.
A true teacher teaches you how to see, not what to see.
With big BIG love,
Kimberly XO
