Pursue Purity

We live in a world that has conditioned us to pursue and celebrate so many things.
Success. Recognition. Wealth. Influence. Achievement. Power. All things that aren't everlasting...
Yet Jesus invites us to pursue something far more lasting:
Purity of heart.
Not the kind that’s measured by appearances, but the kind that quietly transforms us from the inside out.
However, I've been thinking lately about…
The quiet importance of tending to the unseen places within you...
The thoughts no one else hears.
The motives behind your actions.
The way you speak to yourself.
The assumptions you make about other people.
The conversations that take place within your own heart when no one else is around.
Because these hidden places become the foundation of everything else.
Every word begins as a thought.
Every action begins as an intention.
Every habit begins as a choice.
And every life is ultimately shaped by the condition of the heart.
So perhaps one of the most important questions we can ask ourselves isn’t, What am I accomplishing?
Perhaps it’s simply:
What is my heart becoming?
Are my thoughts rooted in love?
Do I quietly celebrate the success of others, or do I compare?
Do I extend grace, or do I rush to judgment?
Do I assume the best, or have I allowed cynicism to become my default?
Am I motivated by love, or by fear? By humility, or by pride?
These aren’t questions meant to condemn us.
They’re invitations.
Because awareness is where transformation begins.
To pursue purity isn’t to pursue perfection. It isn’t pretending we’ve never struggled or that we’ve always gotten it right.
It’s having the courage to continually bring our hearts before God and pray,
“Lord, refine me.”
Teach me to love more deeply.
Make my motives sincere, honest, loyal and pure.
Let my words bring life.
Help me become someone whose private thoughts reflect the same kindness I hope to show the world.
The beautiful thing about God is that He doesn’t simply ask us to behave differently.
He transforms us from the inside out.
When the heart changes, everything else begins to change with it.
Our words become gentler.
Our reactions become slower.
Our relationships become healthier.
Our presence becomes more peaceful.
Not because we’re trying to appear good, but because love has quietly become the foundation of who we are.
Jesus said,
“Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.” — Matthew 5:8
I don’t believe purity is about flawless perfection.
I believe it’s about living with an undivided heart... one that continually turns toward love, truth, honesty, humility, and the presence of God.
So today, before asking yourself what you need to accomplish, pause long enough to ask a quieter question:
What is my heart becoming?
Because the world doesn’t simply experience what we do.
It experiences who we are.
May we never become so consumed with building an impressive life that we neglect cultivating a beautiful heart.
May our thoughts become gentler.
May our intentions become purer.
May our words become filled with grace.
And may our lives become a quiet reflection of the One who first loved us.
Pursue purity. Everything else flows from there. 🤍
